Jeremiah Lynch was a California State Senator, member of the San Francisco Bohemian Club and among other ventures, went to the Klondike to add to his wealth. From Kurutz, "A man of comfortable means .... taking a steamship from San Francisco to St. Michael and thence to the Klondike via the Yukon River. On July 27 [1898], Lynch reached the 'Aladdin-like' city of Dawson. He brilliantly captured the full flavor of the run for gold and life in rambunctious Dawson City..." Later, he toured the mines and started his own mining operation with a large workforce. In 1901, he left the Yukon to return to San Francisco and write this "entertaining reminiscence. Kurutz also adds, "As historian Dale Morgan points out, Lynch occasionally embellished his narrative, writing fiction as fact and/or not accurately recalling the facts. Nonetheless, Three Years in the Klondike offers much detail and color about the years 1898-1901."

Thomas Arthur Rickard (1864-1953) was an mining engineer trained in England and Russia. He had a successful career in mining operations, consultancy and as an editor and author of mining articles and books.

This book was from the library of the late Dr. G. Warren Smith of Pennsylvania. He had a long career as university professor and administrator, and was a collector of over 6,000 books, maps, illustrations, and artifacts relating to the Arctic, Alaska and Pacific Northwest.
