The Fremont Hotel contracted with George Warton James to write a small promotional booklet on Fremont and tourist sites in Los Angeles and California. A few of the copoes were bound in leather for presentation with names imprinted. The Hotel was on 4th and Olive St in the Bunker Hill section of downtown Los Angeles from 1902 to closing in 1940. This was an uncommon publication for James.

There is a narrative of Fremont's life in California from the explorations, conquest, statehood, and settling in Mariposa. This provides a tour guide of the State along with the life of Fremont.
