John Marsh (1799-1856) was a physician, rancher, early pioneer of the Southwest. He emigrated to California in 1836 and , after becoming a Mexican citizen, acquired Rancho Los Meganos in Contra Costa County in Northern California. He became one of the wealthiest ranchers and assisted in California statehood after the Mexican-American war and secession of the West to the United States.
